ROSE'S WALNUT PIE

(Recipe Rose Crain)

1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
2/3 cup dark corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
2 cups walnut halves
1 9-inch unbaked pastry shell

Cream butter to soften. Add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy. Add syrup and salt., beat well. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each egg is added. Stir in walnut halves. Pour into unbaked pastry shell.

Bake in moderate oven (325 degrees F) for 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Cool before serving.
BEST EVER BANANA BREAD

(Recipe Sue Ratliff)

1-3/4 cups flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup cooking oil
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon buttermilk or sour cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts

In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, soda and salt. In another mixing bowl, combine eggs, oil, buttermilk (or sour cream), bananas and vanilla. Add to flour mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chopped walnuts.
Pour into a greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until bread tests done when a sharp knife is inserted.
